How many more people will die without hearing God’s Word?
My good friend Pastor Lipiyus contacted me recently. “We are trying to
bring the Word of God to our people David,” he said, “but most do
not read and they speak so many dialects. Can you help us? Our people will
sacrifice even up to their whole family’s monthly income ($35) to have an
audio Bible in their own homes.”
This is the region of the world where the Tsunami killed over 230,000
people. There are scarcities of many basic resources and yet what they hunger
for is access to God’s Word. Their tragedy seems now far behind us as the
new disaster in Haiti has emerged. Haiti is far more evangelized, between
Catholics and Protestants, however it is generally acknowledged that the
national religion and practice even among Christians is Voodoo. Why? Because
they know God’s Word through intermediaries only and haven’t been
steeped in its study and truth because most of the people of Haiti DO NOT READ.
Haiti has the highest illiteracy rate in the Western Hemisphere with most
Haitians unable to read well enough to engage with the Bible. No wonder so many
don’t know the difference between Christianity and Voodoo!
The times seem to be getting shorter as earthquakes, famines and wars
increase. The Mission of Davar is to enable the maximum number of non
readers to personally engage with the Word of God in the shortest amount of
time possible utilizing the most effective means available.
Won’t you join us in praying regularly that the Word of God gets to
the desperate and needy while there is still time?
Shalom,
