The Audibible® is a solar-rechargeable audio player in a ruggedized package about the size of a cell-phone, capable of playing hundreds to thousands of hours of high quality audio content. Approximately 60% of the world’s population does not read and many of these people groups live in remote locations without electricity and under harsh conditions. The Audibible® is designed with them in mind, that they might hear the Word of God, spoken, as well as other life giving content.

Power

• Solar charged unit, offering more than 9 hours of playback from a single day of average sunlight.
• Can be charged from a wide range of external AC or DC power sources including 12 and 24V automotive sources.
• DC-in has reverse polarity and 60V load-dump protection.
• Rechargeable Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery with long endurance and low self-discharge rate.
• Build in protection and charge control circuit.
• Battery charging is automatically inhibited when the temperature is too high, thus pre-serving the battery from temperature damage.

Audio

• High audio quality and loud output from built-in speaker.
• High fidelity 3.5mm stereo headphone/line output jack enables the use of ear phone, external speakers or public address system.
• Audio files like WAV and MP3 can easily be converted utilizing standard open source software.
• The use of open source program format (Ogg Vorbis) avoids royalty costs such as those incurred with use of MP3.
• Optional ear buds and high output external speaker/s available.

Content

• Content is stored on a replaceable Micro SD card allowing for an endless amount of content to be played.
• Up to 200 hours of voice content to be stored on a single 2G Micro SD card. (100 hours per 1GB of memory)
• Audio content can easily be loaded and removed by authorized distributors using simple PC- based software and a Micro SD card reader and adapter.
• The Audibible® and Ogg Vorbis content are encrypted with the same 32bit Hexadecimal encryption protecting the Audibible® from misuse and unauthorized content copying.
• Extensive content library available for standard messages including Bibles, New Testaments, Story of Jesus, and much more.

Navigation

Intuitive content navigation supports three levels of navigation:

• Title (top) forward/back. Book (middle) forward/back. Chapter (bottom) forward/back.
• Fast forward playback to help seek within a chapter.
• Power on/off
• Pause/play
• Volume up/down
• Braille markings next to all 10 buttons to indicate the specific function.

Indications

• Play/pause indication: The green LED will flash to indicate that content is being played. The green LED will light continuously in the paused state.
• Low battery indication: The red LED will begin to flash when the battery level drops below 5% charge remaining.
• Diagnostics Indication: When initially powered up the red LED light will show momentarily while a system diagnostic test is performed.
• Missing or unauthorized content indication: If the RED LED remains lit then either the SD card cannot be read or it contains content that is invalid or content that has been tampered with.
• When the Audibible® is plugged into an external charger, a blue LED will light. The blue LED will turn off once the battery is fully charged.

Other

• Designed to operate under a wide range of harsh conditions, utilizes high quality durable components.
• Built in lanyard attachment point.
