Transform Zimbabwe: The Word of God, Hope for the desperate
In a very short time Zimbabwe has plummeted from being among the wealthiest nations in Africa to being the poorest in the world (CIA World Factbook, 2008). Inflation is astronomical and the economy is in total disarray. Most are in poverty. Few can read. The people are desperate. And in the midst of the chaos, a network of local pastors worked tirelessly for years to complete what had never been recorded before: audio Scriptures in the Shona language.
DAVAR is now partnering with these pastors to realize their vision: reaching the poorest of the Shona people with the Word of God. They are dedicated to distributing the audio Scriptures first to those who are blind, or desperately in need. In the midst of their own poverty the pastors are raising funds among their own people to obtain audio bibles. DAVAR has joined forces with them to see the task completed. The first few hundred audio Bibles have already been distributed amidst great rejoicing, and the pastors are ready to distribute the next wave of units. They will contribute $1 for every $5 raised for the project.
You can partner with these local pastors, and impact an entire people group!
A donation of any size
will make a significant difference in so many lives. A gift of $25 or ZAR 200 will enable
a pastor to do intensive study of the Scripture, 5 group leaders to personally
engage with the Bible, an additional 50 church members to have access to the
Word of God, and as many as 500 non believers to hear the Gospel. Each
contribution impacts scores of lives for eternity.
