Grasp the oral paradigm
Orality is a reliance upon oral communication. Numerous studies reveal that 80% of people around the world exist in an oral paradigm – they prefer to communicate and learn through listening & speaking rather than reading & writing. While primary oral cultures depend exclusively on oral means of communication, other cultures simply prefer to communicate orally. At Davar Partners International, we serve oral learners worldwide by offering people of every tongue the opportunity to hear God’s Word in audio.
To enable oral people to HEAR the Word of God in their heart languages by 2035.
The Word of God accessible in the heart languages of people of every tongue.
Uncover our history
After years of experience in business and global missions, the founding members of Davar Partners International identified a heartbreaking dilemma at the core of Bible distribution – although people may receive text versions of God’s Word in their languages, they are often unable to engage with it simply because they do not read. Personally confronted by Bible poverty among oral learners, a small group gathered to pray, fast and discover an effective solution to this overwhelming obstacle. Davar Partners International then formed in 2009, resolving to make God’s Word accessible for people of every tongue.
We aim to record the full counsel of God, the Full Bible, in its entirety in every spoken language. Davar has produced 24 of the 65 Full Audio Bibles available. As the Apostle Paul told Timothy, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable.”
We serve oral people of every tongue by producing audio versions of the Bible and other life giving content. We design publication platforms in order to promote Scripture engagement among oral learners meaningfully through visual (not textual) means.
We handle the Word of God carefully by providing high-quality, professional productions that adhere to the highest standards of the European Broadcasting Union. Strict attention to quality provides ease of listening and excellence in publication both now and in the generations to come.
We rely on local input and support in field locations in order to understand specific cultural needs. We partner with and empower local communities to oversee and take ownership of Scripture production and engagement within their cultural context.
We are one organization with offices in Israel, South Africa, & USA and a team that embodies a rich multicultural identity. We highly value cultural differences and therefore seek to be culturally sensitive and relevant.
We aim to publish and distribute audio Bibles as widely and freely as possible. All Davar audio resources are readily available in our online Audio Library as well as our mobile application. We make our audio available for free and wide distribution through many partners and platforms.
We serve people of every tongue. We rely on the Holy Spirit to determine our language projects, not population numbers. Whether ministry partners, field recording teams, indigenous people groups, or funding partners, we listen to and value perspectives from all of our partners.
International Mission Board
Recent research found that missionaries who used oral [non-print] communication strategies with oral people groups planted more than 4 times as many churches as those who did not.
SIL Translation Handbook
“Translation teams find that the recording process results in changes in the text that make the translation more natural and smoother to read. For this reason the recording sessions should be considered as one last editing opportunity before submitting the manuscript for publishing.”
Tesfaye BekemaThe Word for the World Ethiopia
“When they hear God speaking to them in the language He gave them, it touches their heart and they can more easily respond to God's Word. It establishes them as it is connected to their identity and enables them to get the full meaning of what God intended to speak to them. They love that.”
"I listened to the reading of the Word of God, the Bible, for the first time in my life, and I was refreshed to have heard the Word in this manner. The lessons from the audio Bible struck my heart and I realized how lost I was. I never used to have a relationship with God because in our tradition we have the gods we worship. After the audio Bible training, I was afraid to remain in my old way of living, serving and worshipping strange gods. I had to make a bold decision and asked my family to surrender our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ."
"Power of God is flowing everywhere through the talking Bible!"
